College Soccer News - Men's National Team Of The Week - Week Ending November 8, 2020

The College Soccer News National Team of the Week recognizes top performers during the week. Only seven men's college soccer contests took place during the final week of regular fall season play in the Atlantic Coast and Sun Belt Conferences. The ACC tournamet begins on Sunday, November 15. The Sun Belt Tournament begins on Friday, November 13.  

Kyle Holcomb

Wake Forest 

Holcomb who is from San Marcos, California contributed the helper on teammate Isaiah Parente's goal and converted a header after receiving a cross from Machop Chol in Wake Forest's 2-0 win over NC State. He has scored a total of five goals to date in the fall season. 

Jack Lynn

Notre Dame

Lynn who is from St. Louis, Missouri out of Chamide College Preparatory scored three times to help power the Irish past Louisville 4-1. Lynn has a total of six goals to date in the fall season. 

Giovanni Montesdeoca

Montesdeoca who is from Dallas, Texas returned to the Tar Heel lineup this year after missing the 2019 seaosn due to injury. His header proved to be the game-winner in UNC's 2-0 victory over Duke. 

Jacob Labovitz

Virginia Tech

Labovitz who is from Great Falls, Virginia came up big once again for the Hokies when he scored from within the box after receiving a cross from Kyle McDowell to give Virginia Tech the edge they needed to defeat Notre Dame 1-0

Wake Forest 

Parente who hails from Medina, Ohio returned to the Demon Deacon lineup after a two game absence and netted what proved to be the game-winner in Wake Forest's 2-0 on the road win over NC State. The Demon Deacons improve to 7-1-0 with a 5-1-0 mark in ACC play.

The Durham, North Carolina native displayed his quickness and touch on the ball when he set up teammate Giovanni Montesdeoca's goal with a nice move off the dribble and a picture perfect cross. The Tar Heels topped Duke 2-0 to improve to 3-1-2.

Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech needed a big play in order to leave Charlottesville with a win and the sophomore midfielder from Roanoke provided it when he sent a blast into the far post from eight yards outside the box to score the lone goal of the evening in the Hokies 1-0 win over rival Virginia. The Hokies improve to 3-1-2.

Coastal Carolina

The Englishman had a productive evening netting  the game-winning goal and contributing the assist on teammate Noah Glorioso's goal to help power the Chanticleers to a 3-0 win over Georgia State on the road. Coastal Carolina improves to 5-1-0 and will face Georgia Southern again on Friday, November 13 in the Sun Belt Tournament.

Proctor who is from Leeds, England earned a repeat spot on the College Soccer News Team of the Week when he sent a shot into the back of the frame from outside the box in the 86th minute of play to give the Panthers a hard fought 1-0 win over Central Arkansas. Georgia State is 9-2-0 and will face Central Arkansas again on Friday, November 13 in the Sun Belt Tourney.

Tyson was solid between the pipes anchoring a Georgia State defense that shutout Central Arkansas 1-0. Central Arkansas had topped the Panthers 2-0 when the two teams faced each other earlier in the fall season.

Swaneveld who hails from The Netherlands anchored a Virginia Tech defense that shutout Notre Dame 1-0 and Virginia 1-0 on the road. 

Notre Dame Forward Jack Lynn - College Soccer News Men's National Player of the Week - Week Ending November 8, 2020

Jack Lynn Junior Forward  Notre Dame

Hat tricks have been few and far between during the fall season. Lynn proved to be the exception when he found the back of the net three times to help propel Notre Dame past Louisville 4-1.

Lynn has scored a total of six goals to date in the fall season.

His hat trick against Louisville was the first for the Irish since Jon Gallagher accomplished that feat in 2017. 

Notre Dame is now 3-3-0 and will face North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Sunday, November 15 in Chapel Hill.
